Community & Culture

We call the Chicagoland area home, and one of our corporate priorities is to make a positive impact on our community. Each year, our team donates over 800 service hours, focusing on charities that help children and promote financial literacy. Team members can participate throughout the summer months during weekly volunteer opportunities during the day, as well as occasional charity events on weekends and evenings. We also host a number of drives and opportunities to give back.

Through M&S Cares, we participate in charitable events and activities that benefit children in the Lake County, IL area. While we are always open to new giving opportunities, our five core charities include:

Helping Charities Help Children - Our Partner Organizations

Arden Shore Child and Family Services is committed to rebuilding lives affected by trauma and abuse through foster care, family support, and behavioral health services. Located in Waukegan, Illinois, we support Arden Shore’s efforts through back to school and holiday drives.

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois currently has over 15,000 members (some even in our M&S family). Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We support local troops and partner with them on service projects in our community.

Keeping Families Covered provides diapers, period supplies, and incontinence products to families throughout the Chicagoland area. Their mission is to eliminate the barriers to accessing the essentials that enable every person to fully participate in daily life with dignity.

Our Women’s Initiative – GLOW or Growth and Learning Opportunities for Women – is a direct result of employee participation and engagement.

Mowery & Schoenfeld started by creating an inclusive group of men and women at all levels of the organization. We used feedback and insights from our team members from both formal and informal methods. Internal data was laid with industry information, advisor input and best practices to create a framework for the program.

Designed by and for employees, this program brings women and men together to:

  • Ensure an environment of honesty, that lacks judgment or division.
  • Collaborate and communicate to help build each other up and solve problems.
  • Build programs based on personal, professional and community growth.
  • Assist each member to create a plan for clear action to achieve their goals.
  • Focus on accomplishments and celebrate one another.

Mowery & Schoenfeld sought to ensure accountability through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the organization in five specific areas: pay, recruitment, retention, advancement and representation. Expectations for participants also include actionable takeaways for each event, incorporation into goal setting and a continuous feedback structure.
